Memories are forever

Days 12 and 13 of the Song Challenge

Day 12: A song from your pre-teen years

“More Than Words” by Extreme

This song, released in 1991, was something that stayed in my memory because of its popularity at that time. It was all over the airwaves. However, since I was still in my pre-pubescent years, I did not know any better. I never really got to appreciate it fully until my 20s. And then the above video was released. By then, I was matured enough to understand the lyrics and message of the song. I enjoyed the rhythm and how it was an acoustic ballad which perfectly fits the kind of music I would actually listen to and pay for. Of course, Gary Cherone and Nuno Bettencourt’s luscious locks and exquisite looks are just icings on the cake.

It was a proper awakening of the senses.

Day 13 of the Song Challenge: One of Your Favorite ’80s songs

“All This Time” by Tiffany

I was probably 8 or 9 when this song came out and I started hearing it through my aunts’ (who were in high school and college) radio and cassette players at that time. This song is just one of the many ’80s pop songs I grew up with. Tiffany’s and Debbie Gibson’s songs (“Lost In Your Eyes”, “Electric Youth”, “Foolish Beat”, etc.) along with those of Paula Abdul, Taylor Dane, and others were practically the pop soundtrack of my pre-teen years. While they babysit me, my aunts’ and their friends would play these songs and the beat and the lyrics seeped into my subconscious somehow that until this day, I still remember them in my head.

’80s music is the bomb.
